World Intelligence Congress 2023
The 7th World Intelligence Congress(WIC),a major technology event in China, kicked off in Tianjin on May 18th.The four-day event saw more than 500 exhibitors present their most advanced technologies. Artificial intelligence(AI) is undoubtedly a key player in future technology.
“The country has supported the establishment of 18 national AI innovation platforms across the country,” said Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology during the opening ceremony. At the Expo, more than five ChatGPT-like AI models were presented by various companies. China's national supercomputer center in Tianjin even brought their interactive AI trained by the Tianhe-1 supercomputer. It can create a digital human that speaks in your voice.
Such models are also used in various scenarios. For example, a digital lawyer presented by Peking University can produce detailed advice on how to use the law to solve problems. It's quite considerate too. Its advice covers what documents you should prepare and who you should contact.
“As we are in the fast lane of AI development, stronger governance and supervision systems are being called for,” Wei Qing, Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft China said that no matter how powerful AI is, it is still only a tool.“So there must be a responsible AI approach and principle said Wei.
A simple example is using AI in education. There are several products with AI-based digital teachers for sale at the Expo. The user simply asks a question and the device can give correct replies. Such tools can provide rich resources, but if students rely too much on them they may not learn the skills of analyzing information and solving problems, which might be a problem.
